Yo!

Welcome to my blog. I write reviews, impressions, news and generally anything else that interests me about video games and the Industry!

Kinda missing the touch pad...

I know but touch pad on the PS4 controller is still there but I feel like it's underutilized lately. This one may be a weird point but hear me out.

At this point, the touch pad hs essentially just become a third button on the front of the controller. I know lots of games use it but not really for its intended use. Take Tom Clancy's The Division for example.

In The Division, the touch pad is used as a button to bring up the menu, but from there all interaction with the map is done using the other inputs: analog sticks, shoulderbuttons, face buttons. Ubisoft Massive could have at least put in somewhere in the menus a way to use thetouch pad to interact with the map: use two fingers to zoom, run a finger over it to scroll, things like that. With some fine tuning, I'm sure it would be a fun option. And for those purists who don't want any touch interactions in their games, have am option to turn it off.

It just seems like a waste of technology. I'm sure there are tons of ideas for the touch pad being thrown around in dev board rooms but it seems like most, if not all, of them get tossed out in the end.

Maybe I'm crazy, maybe I'm alone on this but I'm sure I'm not. If anyone out there is reading this (but let's be honest, why would you?) let me know what you think. My comments box is always open.

Been kinda quiet lately...
