Epic Games Store Makes its Presence Known at Game Awards
Last week Geoff Keighley’s annual Game Awards (I still miss the title “Video Game Awards”) put on a fantastic show. Keighley certainly deserves to be proud of what he puts together every year, and this year even more so. To see PlayStation’s Shawn Layden, Phil Spencer, head of Gaming at Xbox, and Reggie Fils-Aimé of Nintendo side by side on one stage was one of the strongest moments of the show.
One thing that made an appearance more than once was the Epic Games Store logo. Epic Games just days before announced that they would be opening their own digital storefront, with developers getting a significant percentage of the profits. Epic promised devs a whopping 88% of each sale, a pretty big increase over Steam’s 70%.
The games that were announced for Epic Games at the Game Awards are:
PATHLESS
Hades
Ashen
Dauntless
Journey
While some of these were announced for other platforms, they will be available on PC exclusively through the Epic Games Store, in early access or full launch. And while there were plenty of PC games announced for Steam, this many games out the gate coming to Epic Games Store definitely felt like a win for Epic. Trailers for a few of these games are embedded below (those that had trailers available).
