Marvel's Spider-Man Quietly Steps Out of Spring

Marvel's Spider-Man has finally gotten a release date, and the internet has gone crazy over the excitement. For good reason, of course. The Super Hero game developed at Insomniac Games has been one of the most highly anticipated games since it was announced, second only to the new God of War game announced at the same E3 presentation. Some, myself included, would say that the Spider-Hype is higher than even the God of Hype.

But in all that excitement, the internet seems to have passed over the fact that Marvel's Spider-Man has stepped out of spring, and into Autumn. At E3 2017, we were promised that every trailer which ended with a "2018" release window would arrive by Spring 2018. As the months went on, Spring began to look more and more crowded, as Detroit: Become Human was also confirmed for Spring 2018. Earlier this year we got a date for that too, May 25. A bit late by some people's standards, but Spring technically goes until June (in America).

As time wore on, it started to feel like if God of War, Spider-Man, Shadow of the Colossus, and Detroit would all pile on top of each other. If Spring was to happen and not suffocate gamers, something had to give. Looking back, one might say Moss headlined March for PlayStation, certainly for PSVR, but had Spider-Man released in March, the poor mouse wouldn't have stood a chance.

All that said, it is still a bit surprising that Spider-Man, undoubtedly a huge title for PlayStation, was the one to be pushed out Spring. A Detroit delay, followed by God of War being pushed up a week or two, then Spider-Man getting a late May/early June release date would've made more sense to me, but maybe that's why I'm just a small time blogger and not running the release calendar at PlayStation.
